Sounds under 200 milliseconds need more amplitude to be perceived equally loud
Evidence
Duration also has an effect on the perception of the loudness of complex tones in a similar fashion to that of pure tones. As is the case for pure tones, complex tones have an amplitude that is independent of duration once the sound is longer than about 200 milliseconds and is inversely proportionate to duration when the duration is less than this. β David M.
