Global traders form communities of time by observing a shared screen object
Evidence
Although Schutz’s concepts were conceived for bodily copresent participants, he turned the spotlight from the subject as actor and to the subject as observer of a mediating object; he also emphasized the temporal immediacy and coordination of observation. These ideas are the ones from which we can gain analytic leverage in the dissection of global fields. The global markets studied are arguably communities of time, with their identities based on interlocking time dimensions and the observation of a common object (i.e., the on-screen market). — Karin Knorr Cetina & Urs Bruegger, Global Microstructures, 60
