Canadian Reform Party supporters scored highest on authoritarian and dominance measures.
Evidence
In the fall of 1994, 35 Reform Party supporters in a sample of 468 scored highest in RWA, Ethnocentrism, (hostile) Attitudes toward Homosexuals and (hostile) Attitudes toward Quebec. The following autumn 40 parents who preferred the Reform Party (out of 501 respondents) again scored highest in RWA and Ethnocentrism. The ATH and Attitudes toward Quebec Scales were not included in this booklet. Instead the parents were asked to answer Pratto et al.’s (1994) full Social Dominance Scale, Spence and Helmreich’s (1978) sex-role survey, and a set of items measuring concern for the environment. Reform Party supporters scored highest in Social Dominance, believed strongest in traditional sex roles, and had 8. — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 4428
