Canadian party candidates differ significantly in authoritarian orientation.

Evidence

Twenty of the 66 NDP candidates, 33 of the Liberals, and 14 of the Progressive Conservatives kindly responded to this request. The NDP scores ranged much more widely than they had in previous studies, from 73 to 190. Their mean equaled 119.0. The Liberals ranged even more, from 49 to 225, with a mean of 146.7.3 The Tory scores went from 105 to 223, averaging 182.7. The overall F equaled 12.8 (p < .001); all parties differed significantly from one another. Cranking out the RWA point-biserial correlation between being an NDP versus being a Conservative candidate produced a .70. — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 3356
