Authoritarians supported repealing the Bill of Rights when asked.

Evidence

Overall, this appeal was (thankfully) rejected by the San Francisco State students. They produced a mean of 2.24 for the letter’s being “‘sensible” and 1.82 for repeal of the Bill of Rights. But some of the students, especially authoritarians, resonated to this ignorant appeal to wipe out America’s major defense against tyranny. RWA scores correlated . with judgments of sensibility and . with agreement for repealing the Bill of Rights. — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 281 (#corroborates, via linked claim)

I doubt many American lawmakers would vote for an amendment to repeal freedom of speech outright. Even High RWAs believe in it, certainly for themselves. But I suspect authoritarian legislators would often support bills that whittled away our freedom of speech, when they did not like the speech. They would do the same for freedom of the press. And even though the First Amendment prohibits the establishment of a state religion, we have reason to suspect right-wing authoritarians would vote for a law to have their religion taught in public schools. — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 3609 (#complicates, via linked claim)
