Analyzing gendered Islamophobia through women alone leaves male-centered work undone
Evidence
Here I want to explore more specifically how Muslim women are at the center of Islamophobic discourses. This focus on women clearly depends on their relationship with Muslim men; however, masculinity and the threat of dangerous Muslim men is not directly explored as the balance to women in this essay. Much of that work still needs to be done. Thinking about Islamophobia in gendered terms and as a gendered construction is only a first step in this direction. — Carl W.
