Whites attribute racial inequality to behavior while benefiting from networks they deny
Evidence
With racial habits, white advantage shows up as the ordinary stuff of living. White people simply work hard and earn their opportunities. Black people, as one New Jersey respondent noted, are a “bunch of fucking lazy people….They think the government owes them something….You’ve got to go and get it. It’s not handed to me….They just…to me, they’re lazy. I mean, point blank. They’re looking for the easy way out.” For him, racial inequality is not a problem of policy or politics; it is one of behavior. Interestingly, a friend gave this same person, who was applying for a job, a copy of the test and the answers. He said he wasn’t so good in school. — Eddie S. Glaude Jr., Democracy in Black, 159
