Racially perceived Muslims face exceptional US state violence abroad without religious liberty protections
Evidence
The USA PATRIOT Act, the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS), and the Absconder Program are among the myriad national security laws and immigration initiatives granting the US government expansive authority in the securitization of Muslims. Abroad, the US government kidnaps and tortures Muslims in secret rendition programs. It assassinates Muslims with drones and indefinitely detains Muslims at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba. These authoritarian practices occur without concern for religious liberty, because the targets are perceived as a dangerous race. Despite qualifiers that such practices are reserved only for “radical Muslims,” all Muslims are potential targets of the post-9/11 counterterrorism regime. — Sahar F. Aziz, The Racial Muslim, 879
