Although hearing recovers to normal after a TTS, it is a sign of a risk of hearing loss, especially in the case of repeated temporary threshold shifts or a single significant TTS. Thus a good rule of thumb is that, for example after a rock concert, hearing should be normal by the next morning at the latest.
