People whose basic outlook is capitalism rank second to the religious in authoritarian aggression
Evidence
Not many people in these samples said “capitalism” described their basic outlook in life, but they did catch your eye. They stood out among the students and parents on the high end of the RWA distribution (135.3 and 156.9, respectively), second only to the religious in both cases. The capitalist parents also scored highest overall on my three measures of authoritarian aggression: Ethnocentrism (first place), ATH (second place), and Posse-Radicals (second place). — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 2783

- XREF: Extends the reader’s interest in ideological signaling: self-described capitalists in conservative samples show aggression patterns rivaling religiously-anchored authoritarians, a useful counterpoint to moral-panic work.
