No political party in franc-zone countries has made the CFA a campaign issue
Evidence
In order for this nascent popular movement to translate into real change, however, it would obviously be necessary for the political class of the various countries of the franc zone, both the ruling parties and those in opposition, to take up this battle. This is not yet the case. Few political formations make the CFA a key point of their focus. In Gabon, for example, says an academic, ‘the CFA franc is a non-issue: no party or leader has ever integrated it into their speeches, least of all in their campaigns. Politicians are too “françafricanised” to take a position on this topic. Worse still, the opposition, which should carry on this kind of discourse, only relies on France to come to power!’ — Fanny Pigeaud_ Ndongo Samba Sylla, Africa’s Last Colonial Currency, 326
