Critical consciousness in teachers is fostered by sustained multimodal reflection and ongoing dialogue

Evidence

I now implement more opportunities for TCs to engage in critical reflection and dialogue throughout the social studies methods course. This is a vital component of fostering the critical consciousness of TCs within a community-based critical pedagogy. Course assignments and learning opportunities entail a variety of ongoing, multimodal reflective and dialogic opportunities that intimately support TCs in the development of conscientização. I also maintain open communication access with TCs after they have completed the social studies methods course, which supports the ongoing praxis of cultivating education for social justice. — James D.
