Black Americans face poverty at double the national rate without support.
Evidence
Racial profiling to this day shines a debilitating spotlight especially on young black men in the dark of night. And racially inflected impoverishment (like unemployment rates) gropes at black Americans dramatically more than at others in its spiral upwards (12 percent of Americans but 25 percent of African Americans live in poverty now, mostly without support or health insurance). The “war on poverty” has been edged aside by the “war on crime.” — David Theo Goldberg, The Threat of Race, 424
