Bantu philosophy is compatible with Western ontology despite different starting points

Evidence

What will be of great interest is to know whether Bantu Philosophy concepts, as articulated in the book Bantu Philosophy by Placide Tempels, can contribute to intercultural and interreligious communication between Africans and Westerners and again, what relevance Bantu Philosophy still has today and how it is received in Africa and in the Western academy. Results of my reflections are, from every point of view, very positive, and this is why I affirm that, though different from the starting point and the approach as related by Tempels, African Bantu philosophy is compatible with Western philosophy of the European world. I can therefore affirm without hesitation that Tempels’s work is a valid contribution towards dialogue between Western philosophy (Ontology) and African Thinking (Vitalogy). — Frans Dokman, Beyond Bantu Philosophy_…, 194
