Attempted reversal of IDF religionization institutionalized it rather than weakening it

Evidence

Only in 2016 did IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot recognize that religious authorities had gained too much power within the military and took steps to reduce the power of the Military Rabbinate and resolve conflicts between the rabbinate and the Education Corps (A. Harel 2016). At the time of writing, the effectiveness of this effort has not yet been measured, but it seems that they were instrumental in institutionalizing religionization rather than weakening it (Levy 2018). — Nadim N.
