Morisco Spain
Refers to the period and context in Spain after the forced conversion of Muslims to Christianity (the Moriscos, converted Muslims and their descendants), roughly from the late 15th through early 17th century, where crypto-Muslim practices and Arabic learning continued covertly despite Inquisition pressure.
