Antillean Negro

A term used in Frantz Fanon’s analyses of colonial psychology to refer to Black individuals from the French Antilles (e.g., Martinique). The concept captures the internalized racism and identity struggles of Antillean Blacks, who may scapegoat other Black people (“niggers”) and equate mastery of French language with increased whiteness and humanity.
