White workers are more likely than black workers to have employer-provided retirement accounts

Evidence

Overall, half of white workers (50.8 percent) and less than half of black workers (42.4 percent) have a retirement account provided by their employer or union. But those numbers look very different if we break them out according to whether the employer is private or public. In the public sector, 77 percent of white workers and 67 percent of black workers participate in a retirement plan. — Dorothy A. Brown, The Whiteness of Wealth, 384
