Wage contraction persists comparing firms within the same city and industry.
Evidence
In columns (4)ā(5) we further add city ļ¬xed eļ¬ects to control for unobservable shocks to ļ¬rms within the same city. We ļ¬rst replicate the speciļ¬cation in column (3) for the sample of cities with more than one ļ¬rm in column (4), which results in 194 observations. The coeļ¬cient remains identical in size and is signiļ¬cant at the 5% level. In column (5), we add city ļ¬xed eļ¬ects. Essentially, we are now comparing Danat-connected ļ¬rms to other ļ¬rms in the same city and industry. ā Sebastian Doerr et al., Financial Crises and Politicalā¦, 136
