US structural racism was re-deployed against immigrant Muslims after 1965

Evidence

This began to change when Muslim immigrants arrived in sizable numbers after 1965, when national origin immigration quotas were lifted, and the United States competed with the Soviet Union for client states in the Middle East and North Africa. The same structural racism buttressing domestic oppression of Blacks, Native Americans, and Asians would soon be deployed against immigrant Muslims. However, the means by which racism occurred, as well as the material consequences, were unique to Muslims’ immigration history and the geopolitical context of the time. — Sahar F.
