The SRC militarized administration to root out corruption and boost production

Evidence

To this end the civilian district and provincial governors were replaced by energetic young army and police officers; vigilant military personnel were posted to ministries to go through the accounts and scrutinize current transactions; embassy staff were recalled for retraining and, where this was judged necessary, replaced by military personnel. Politicians and officials suspected of irregularities were arrested and investigated, pending court proceedings. The new regional and district governors were appointed as ‘chairmen’ of local Revolutionary Councils which sought to galvanize productive activity. — I.M. Lewis, I. M.
