The Nazis’ fall and the Holocaust revelations combined to weaken Arab positions on Palestine.

Evidence

As regards the Palestine problem the situation had changed in two respects to their disadvantage. The appalling discoveries in the Nazi camps had aroused universal sympathy for the efforts by the Jewish community in Palestine to provide a home and a refuge for the shattered survivors. The fall of the Axis had deprived the Arabs of their main support and indeed left many of the Arab leaders with an uneasy feeling that their complicity with the Nazis might be discovered to their disadvantage. — Bernard Lewis, From Babel to Dragomans, 901
