The Muslim Brotherhood avoided confronting Israel and was favored by occupation authorities

Evidence

In the Sunni tradition, we can take the example of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) in Palestine. From about 1967 they shied away from openly organizing against or confronting the state of Israel, which is why they were favored by the occupation authorities. Historically, this trend has been justified by muslim religious scholars (ulama) using two arguments: first, that it is better to have tyranny than anarchy, because the latter would lead to the dissolution of the ummah, the community of believers; second, that a Muslim ruler, even a corrupt and unjust one, is necessary in order to defend the land of Islam against infidels. This reasoning has been used time and again through history to justify the reign of corrupt and cruel rulers. — Deepa Kumar, Islamophobia and the Politics of Empire, 318
