The Koran framed Muhammadâs rejection as repeating an identical prophetic pattern
Evidence
As the Meccansâ resistance to Islam hardened, so did their persecution of the Muslims. A band of Muslims took refuge in the Christian kingdom of Ethiopia in 615, but Muhammad remained in Mecca. The revelations from this period remind the Muslims that Muhammad is not the ïŹrst prophet to be spurned by his people; indeed, every prophet faced the same ridicule and rejection. The Koran tells the stories of earlier prophets such as Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Jonah, Moses, David, John the Baptist, Jesus, and others. Each of them came to his own people with the same message from God, asking for islam, submission: cease from worshiping idols; desist from pride and evil; bow down to the one true God, giving him thanks and praise. â John V.
