The Abrahamic reading rejects the linear progression from Judaism to Christianity to Islam
Evidence
Among the names that are deployed by the Abrahamic, “the Jew, the Arab” situates the insistence and the importance of a reading of the three religions, a reading that would not gather them in an illusory unity. To the contrary, such reading demands that history-our history-be rethought, a history that is all too sedimented in the manifest progression of the Abrahamic as the history of “Western” religions, in order of appearance, from Judaism to Christianity, from Christianity to Islam. — Gil Anidjar, The Jew, the Arab, 335
