Technocratic consciousness suppresses the communicative interest at the core of socialization
Evidence
The new ideology [i.e. technocratic consciousness] damages … an interest that is linked to one of the two fundamental conditions of our cultural existence: the interest in language or, more precisely, in the form of socialization and individualization that takes place through colloquial communication. This interest extends to the preservation of an intersubjectivity of understanding, and to the production of a form of communication that is free of domination. The technocratic consciousness allows this practical interest to disappear in favour of an interest in extending our technological capacities. — Rolf Wiggershaus, The Frankfurt School, 2691
