State socialist regimes engaged in racism as readily as capitalist ones
Evidence
Racism, in classic socialist form, has been traditionally regarded largely as an epiphenomenon ideologically rationalizing class conflict. As Foucault remarks with characteristic flair and insight, nevertheless, state socialisms are as prone to biological (or, we might add, cultural) racism in identifying and incarcerating criminals, the mentally ill, and political enemies as capitalist states have been. — David Theo Goldberg, The Threat of Race, 1153
