Speech audiometry tests intelligibility by varying signal level and speech pace
Evidence
In speech audiometry, the patient tries to identify words, sentences, or other speech sounds he or she is presented with. Speech can be reproduced to the patient over headphones or loudspeakers. Typically, the target signal level is either constant or varying to measure the percent-correct score or the detection threshold, respectively. Moreover, the speech pace can be varied, because in some cases the individual is able to understand only slow speech. β Ville Pulkki, Matti Karjalainen, Communication Acoustics- Anβ¦, 2715
