Speculative propositions reveal an incline that ordinary grammar conceals
Evidence
When the predicative proposition, the traditional subject and source for philosophy, becomes a speculative proposition, it confers on the λγς its real incline, thus successfully bringing the idea of συµα νειν into the context of predication. As long as it remains within the tradition, philosophy cannot, in Hegel’s view, get past basic grammar. It fails to see the constitutive incline of the proposition, because no matter what philosophy says, it still sees the proposition as a straight course protecting itself from a fall to which it claims to be exposed. Captive to a linear conception which keeps subject, copula and predicate within a relation but alien to one another, traditional philosophy fails to forge a necessary foundation for the relation between the subject and its accidents. — Catherine Malabou, The Future of Hegel, 1172
