Sound location is mapped with azimuth and elevation coordinates
Evidence
The azimuth of sound is represented by the angle on a spherical coordinate system representing the horizontal plane. For reference, 0° is the azimuth of the center of the head (i.e., the nose), 90° is the azimuth of the right ear, and −90° is the azimuth of the left ear. The elevation of sound is represented by the angle on the median plane (the plane that divides the body into left and right halves). — Jennifer Lentz, Psychoacoustics- Perception of Normal…, 1443
