Racial categories are produced and applied to Muslim labor migrants.

Evidence

As an interdisciplinary study, this work addresses the use of the categories of race and racism on Muslim bodies as they circulate in the global economy through concepts, media images, popular culture, narratives of migration and diaspora, and the production of illegality, criminality, and terror. As ethnography, it explores the multiple ways these racial categories are produced to place Pakistani labor migrants in the historical formation of the global racial system. — Junaid Rana, Terrifying Muslims, 74
