Private citizens can trigger FBI home visits against Muslims without evidence
Evidence
A few of the Muslim men and women I talked to shared stories of the FBI visiting them at their homes. The majority of the interviewees admitted they knew someone, mostly Muslim men, who had met with the FBI. They told me how their neighbors or strangers they encountered reported them for suspicious behavior. Hina, a Pakistani Muslim American woman, told me that after 9/11, her husband had the FBI visit him several times: “He had neighbors who would call the FBI and say that ‘we have a terrorist-looking guy living next to us.’ They said, ‘He comes and goes at weird hours, you need to check him out.’” Hina said the FBI visited her husband several times over the course of three weeks because of phone calls made by private citizens. … Maham also told me about a time the FBI visited her at home late one evening. One afternoon, shortly after 9/11, she went to the post office to mail some clothes to Pakistan to her relatives. Her husband waited in the car while she went into the post office to mail the package. — , Selod, Saher - Forever Suspect_…, 462
