Pathology in time is judged from within society, not by external ethical standards.

Evidence

This work certainly shares the basic intention of social criticism. Nevertheless it seeks to obtain its criteria for the diagnosis of “pathological” developments, as it were, from within society by on the one hand drawing our attention to the phenomena of desynchronization and disintegration resulting from social acceleration and on the other holding the temporal perspectives relevant to action and culture up against the structurally imposed patterns of time. Where the three (or, if one includes sacred time, four) levels of the individual’s experience of time can no longer be brought into accord with one another and with the systemic patterns of time, severe consequences unavoidably result for actors, both individual and collective. — Hartmut Rosa, Social Acceleration, 150
