No single database contains every US news publication
Evidence
We chose to sample randomly from a particular news aggregating database, Nexis Uni, and as a result, we were limited to the news sources available on this site, which did not include every possible news publication in the United States. To our knowledge, such a site does not exist. We attempted to mitigate this issue by coding news items from every state available, randomly selecting a sample of newspapers, and randomly selecting articles within those newspapers. Our resulting sample of 71 distinct newspapers from 32 states and eight of nine census regions is relatively representative of the U.S. as a whole. However, this limitation is worth noting, as different newspapers may provide more variation. — Emily Greene-Colozzi, Amy Adamczyk, and Senahan Kiyal Keles, Differences in Religious Framing of…, 79
