New Christian doctors confessed under Inquisition torture to mass murder of Old Christians

Evidence

A multitude of doctors, surgeons and apothecaries have been arrested in Lisbon and other parts of the kingdom, not counting those who have fled (leaving their wives imprisoned), and they have all confessed to wilfully perpetrating many murders of [Old] Christian noblemen and men of the Church. In some cases the exact numbers are known because they killed one out of every twelve patients. One of them, who was burnt at the stake in Évora, confessed that he had killed one hundred and fifty Old Christians, including eighteen noblemen and he was also found to possess a book attacking our holy faith. — James Renton, Ben Gidley (eds.), Antisemitism and Islamophobia in Europe, 352
