Manifest Destiny persists as a living imperial ideology applied against Muslim populations
Evidence
As previous chapters of the American racial narrative illustrate, every act of terror levied against a targeted group is enabled by an accompanying dialectic, an ideology and a language subsequently made into law and then brutally enforced by the hands of the state. Manifest Destiny and its imperial aspirations were not limited to North America nor confined to the nineteenth century. Although American history books narrowly frame Manifest Destiny as a bygone crusade into the Wild West, it is anything but moot. Manifest Destiny is a living campaign, a dynamic and ambitious imperial project that taps into old strategies of demonizing entire populations while claiming to promote democracy and civilization, and then swiftly leveling them and taking everything that remains. β Khaled A.
