Inducing a merely analytic thinking style lowers stated belief in God.
Evidence
We used a variety of well-tested techniques to induce analytical thinking, then measured subsequent levels of belief in God. Importantly, none of our techniques had any content that is related to debates about religion’s rationality or truth. These were not rational arguments against religion. What we did was to prod people to think in an analytical style before reporting their religious convictions. — Norenzayan, Ara, Big gods - how religion transformed…, 603
