Empathy raises and racism lowers sympathy for a Muslim terror victim.
Evidence
The correlation analyses revealed that women displayed higher EC (r .23, p .05) but less PA (r .29, p .01) than the men. White individuals reported significantly higher levels of MR, but lower levels of RF than their non-White counterparts. We found that PA was negatively correlated with NA, MR was positively correlated with AP and both forms of Islamophobia, AP was also positively correlated with both forms of Islamophobia, and I-CG was positively correlated with AP and I-AB. The outcome variable SM was positively correlated with EC but negatively correlated with MR and I-AB. — Sherman A. Lee, Chelsea A. Reid, Stephen D. Short, Jeffrey A. Gibbons, Ruth Yeh, and Matthew L.
