Dogmatism is best defined as unchangeable, unjustified certainty

Evidence

I have offered here at least a simpler conceptualization of dogmatism as relatively unchangeable, unjustified certainty. The balanced DOG Scale that measures it has pleasing levels of internal consistency. It has shown some encouraging ability to predict dogmatic behavior among students in several contexts, and it correlates rather solidly in expected ways with such things as right-wing authoritarianism, religious fundamentalism, and being a zealot, among university students and their parents. — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 2800
