College women reported far more lifetime intercourse acts than college men.
Evidence
One additional fact leapt out from the data: females were much more likely to have had many acts of intercourse than males. Of the 135 women, 51 had copulated over 100 times, compared with only 18 of 93 men. Of the 93 nonvirgin guys, 31 could still keep track on their fingers. — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 2273
Categorization
- XREF: Likely reflects reporting differences (men don’t count, women’s partners skew older and more experienced) — connects to known sex gaps in self-reported partner counts.
- SHARE: This reversed gender gap in reported intercourse counts is a counterintuitive stat worth sending to anyone who studies survey methodology or gender and sexuality.
