Far and away the strongest predictor of Christian nationalism is identifying oneself with political conservatism. This shouldn’t be surprising, since both political conservatism and Christian nationalism are interested in preserving an older order or restoring the past, reflected in clear boundaries and hierarchies and perceived to be closer to America’s founding ideals.
