Children as young as twelve are placed on flight watchlists

Evidence

Abdul, a twenty-four-year-old Pakistani American Muslim who lives in Texas, recalled flying from Dallas to Chicago when he was twelve years old. He was flying with his father and brother, and when his father went to swipe his credit card into the ticket kiosk, he was unable to retrieve their tickets and instructed to see a ticket agent. Abdul and his father’s names came up on a list. Abdul recalled that it took a while to clear up the issue, but he was finally given a boarding pass and allowed to board the flight. His older brother, Usman, added that both he and his father have had several issues using the check-in kiosk at airports since 9/11. — Saher Selod, Forever Suspect_ Racialized…, 203
