Black economic progress has stagnated since the 1960s civil rights reforms
Evidence
Writing this book has caused me to veer between pessimism and optimism. The lack of significant black economic progress since the civil rights reforms of the 1960s makes me pessimistic, but the thought that my research could lead to change gives me some hope. As in the fight against police brutality, persistence and vigilance must be our constant companions. And while you can’t take a picture of this harm and post it to social media, all of you, black and white, can go public with your stories. It’s long past time to have a conversation about the racist acts buried deep in our tax returns. — Dorothy A. Brown, The Whiteness of Wealth, 566
