Barack Obama authorized killing US citizens abroad via drone without trial
Evidence
Drone strikes became the Obama administration’s signature mode of warfare. In May 2012 the New York Times revealed that every Tuesday (“Terror Tuesdays”), Obama met with advisors to determine the list of people to be assassinated using drone strikes (the “kill list”). This list sometimes included US citizens like the Yemeni-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. In the same drone strike that killed al-Awlaki, his sixteen-year-old son Abdulrahman was also executed without as much as a trial or the presentation of evidence in a court of law. — Deepa Kumar, Islamophobia and the Politics of Empire, 508
