Automatic EQ can create unwanted resonances by filling interference dips
Evidence
Not to be overlooked is the fact that in (c) the automatic equalization process also filled the interference dip in the on-axis curve. This resulted in the addition of a resonance to the loudspeaker, which now shows up in the sound power curve. We will never know if the subjective scores would have been different if that had not happened. Human interpretation of the spinorama measurements is advisable; automatic equalization is not intelligent equalization. β Toole, Floyd E, Sound reproduction- the acoustics andβ¦, 519
