Signal processing can compensate for loudspeaker and headphone imperfections.
Evidence
The unavoidable deviations from ideal audio reproduction, especially in loudspeakers and headphones, can be compensated for, at least partly, by signal processing. This compensation is called equalization, and a device or algorithm that performs equalization is called an equalizer (EQ). Equalizers are often used manually, by adjusting sound until it is perceived with the desirable timbre (sound colour) or some other quality, or equalization may be included in the reproduction system to automatically compensate for some degradation. β Ville Pulkki, Matti Karjalainen, Communication Acoustics- Anβ¦, 520
