Arévalo Moriscos performed Islamic rites immediately before and after Christian absolution
Evidence
One Gabriel Cordero confessed that in 1570 he, along with other Moriscos, had gone to Valladolid to benefit from the Edict of Grace that had been proclaimed. The day before the absolution was granted, they got together with other Moriscos from Valladolid itself and performed the ceremonies of Islamic ritual purification (atahor, guadoc) followed by prayer (c¸ala), and then, after receiving absolution, they did the same again! — L.
