Antisemitism served as an instrument to dissolve the nation-state itself
Evidence
The claim of a party to be beyond all parties had other, more significant, implications than antisemitism. If it had been only a question of getting rid of the Jews, Fritsch’s proposal, at one of the early antisemitic congresses, not to create a new party but rather to disseminate antisemitism until finally all existing parties were hostile to Jews, would have brought much quicker results. As it was, Fritsch’s proposal went unheeded because anti-semitism was then already an instrument for the liquidation not only of the Jews but of the body politic of the nation-state as well. — Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism, 150

- ADDENDUM: Relevant to ‘On Sacrifice: The Real Kind, with Corpses’ insofar as it distinguishes instrumentalized hatred from genuine grievance — the sacrificial logic where a group is destroyed to stabilize a political order.
