Acoustic diversity mirrors species diversity only in tropical biomes.
Evidence
There is a great expectation in the application of ecoacoustics metrics of measuring the diversity of species. However, it is necessary to point out that a direct correlation between acoustic diversity and biological diversity exists only in tropical biomes in which the acoustic niche of species is narrow and the complexity of a spectrogram is highly related to the diversity of animal assemblages. β Bernie Krause and Almo Farina, Using Ecoacoustic Methods to Survey theβ¦, 90
