Abortion restrictions enacted in four years exceeded the prior decade
Evidence
According to Elizabeth Nash, senior state issues manager at the Guttmacher Institute, a leading reproductive research and policy organization, 231 abortion restrictions were enacted between 2011 and 2014—almost 20 percent more restrictions than the number enacted in the entire preceding decade. Nearly two hundred antiabortion bills were introduced in 2015. In 2016, eighteen states enacted fifty new abortion restrictions. In 2018, fifty states adopted twenty-seven new restrictions. — Katherine Stewart, The Power Worshippers, 634
